August Was Cold

But also had more reviews

I feel like every month this year I’ve written that I only released reviews, and that I’m planning to work on other things but nothing has come of it yet. And why break that streak!?

  • I reviewed Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, and had a fantastic time with it. I’ve lightly followed the development of this game for 4 years, and it came out good! There’s some fascinating technical work on the branching musical numbers, and it’s also just a good story. I have a lot of feelings about Freddie. Just look at her!

Freddie!

  • I also reviewed Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew and I did not like it at all. I had about 3 hours of fun in a 25-ish hour game. I like strategy and I like stealth but it felt to me like there was little strategy to be had here. A lot of people raved about this one, but I just wanted it to be over. Especially confusing to me was people lavishing praise on the writing, which I thought was serviceable but full of stereotypes at best. Even though I didn’t like this game, it’s still a shame the company’s shutting down, despite the game’s sales being fine. I hope everyone finds new work fast.

In other news, my physiotherapist said I must exercise to help my decaying muscles. This means I am left with no choice but to become swole, and may not have time for much else.

I do have some projects in the pipeline, but unfortunately I’ve decided the video I was working on is boring and has to be partially redone. I’ll be doing another video instead, and aiming to get something done this month. We’ll see!

I’ve also been re-evaluating my creative priorities overall. At the moment I’m not changing anything, but I might start shifting how I spend my time, especially as my sleep seems to be improving marginally.

That’s it for this month. Enjoy your September, and I’ll get back to you next month, with bigger muscles.
